“MY daughter was kidnapped at knife point.” Those were the words of Fazil Abdullah, 35, whose daughter went missing on Monday, believed to be abducted by a suspect who had broken into their house at Port Dickson Polytechnic quarters here.

Faralysa Amani Fazil, 9, went missing for 15 hours before she was found at 9.15pm on Monday.

Fazil said, based on his short conversation with his daughter when they were reunited at Teluk Kemang police station here, Faralysa had told him that the suspect had pointed a knife and instructed her to follow him.

“My daughter claimed that they went out of the house using the back door. She was taken from the quarters via a hole in the gate at the back of the building.

“I have checked and there was indeed a hole in the gate, which allows anyone to go in and out from the area without being noticed,” he said.

He added that according to his daughter, the suspect had left her at a junction not far from their house.

“She walked to the quarters’ guard house and sought a guard’s help to contact us.

“My sister received the call and alerted everyone,” he said.

Asked whether his daughter knew the suspect, Fazil said his daughter had told him that the suspect might be “someone familiar”.

“I remember she told me a few weeks ago that she couldn’t sleep in her room because she felt someone was watching. I didn’t think much of it then,” he said, adding that his house was once broken into during Ramadan this year.

“I can’t ask too much as she is in shock and has refused to eat. She has been admitted to Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital in Seremban for check up and treatment. She has bruises on her arms and legs, probably because she was tied by the suspect,” he said.

Although it was a happy occasion for Fazil and his wife, Nur Asyikeen Ramli, to be reunited with their daughter, the motive behind Faralysa’s kidnapping remains a mystery.

“I am curious about what prompted the suspect to kidnap and later return my daughter. I am not sure what is the motive,” he said at his home in Batu 7 Teluk Kemang here yesterday.

“However, I am grateful that she has been found, safe and sound. My world was turned upside down the moment I discovered her missing.”

He said a solat Hajat and Yasin recital were held at Masjid Warisan Teluk Kemang on Monday night to pray for her safety.

On an allegation that his daughter had run away from home, Fazil brushed off the speculation.

“My daughter suffers from asthma. She needs her inhaler with her at all times. If she had wanted to run away, she could have taken her medicine, but that was not the case.”

Port Dickson acting district police chief Superintendent Rugiman Agus said investigations were ongoing.
