KUALA LUMPUR: Five Malaysian travel agencies managing pilgrims under special private packages have pledged their support to join the World #QuranHour programme in Arafah on Aug 31.

Warisan Ummah Ikhlas Foundation chief executive officer Marhaini Yusoff said the involvement was made possible due to efforts by a secretariat that was in the Holy Land for the programme.

“The five agencies have pledged to join the programme and the secretariat is trying to rope in more Malaysian agencies to take part,” she said.

She said the five agencies are TH Travel and Services Sdn Bhd, Andalusia Travel and Tours Sdn Bhd, Misbah Travel and Tours Sdn Bhd, Zahafiz Travel and Tours Sdn Bhd and CS Holidays Sdn Bhd.

Marhaini said the team was also trying to bring in pilgrims from Cambodia, Indonesia and Singapore to take part in the World #QuranHour programme.

“We are waiting for confirmation from the countries to come on board as well,” she said.

She said the pilgrims from the countries would recite Quran at their respective maktab.

In Malaysia, the World #QuranHour will start at 8.30pm at Dataran Merdeka and at selected mosques nationwide.

It is in conjunction with the wuquf in Arafah, Mecca, on the 9th day of Zulhijjah of the Islamic calendar, which coincidently falls on the Merdeka Day on Aug 31.

For one hour, Quran recitations will be held to encourage reading, understanding and discussions of the holy scripture.

Media Prima Group is one of World #QuranHour’s media partners.
