A strong comeback

-

RAINBOW Ke$ha

I’ve never been a fan of Kesha but it was her comeback album, that got me hooked. I guess after spending almost four years in a legal conundrum with Dr Luke, she’s back stronger than ever, making up for her lost time. I’m extremely impressed by her talent and vision in music here. It’s a well-written record with each song telling a story; to forgive, to love, to accept, to learn, to just be.

They are a true reflection of herself as a person, a daughter, a friend and an artiste.

My ultimate favourite track is lead single, It’s a heart-wrenching yet painfully beautiful ballad about forgiveness towards people who have hurt her. I believe she’s referring to Dr Luke who she accused of sexual and emotional harassment.

“Cause you brought the flames and you put me through hell. I had to learn how to fight for myself. And we both know all the truth I could tell. I’ll just say this. I wish you farewell,” she croons. Listen to it if you haven’t and experience it yourself.

Another top pick is the complete opposite of A funky, upbeat track, it’s filled with feminist proclamations. “I’m a motherf **** n’ woman, baby, all right. I don’t need a man to be holdin’ me too tight,” she sings.

Kesha shared her experience on writing the song with “It was such a beautiful experience to write such a strong female empowerment song with two men, Drew Pearson and Stephen Wrabel, because it reinforces how supportive men can be of women and feminism. That day was one of the best writing sessions of my life,” she said.

and her latest one, are all beautiful confessional tracks that speaks to the heart. It’s real emotions, real experiences and real confessions.

It’s a joy to see Kesha making the kind of music she’s always wanted now. is her best work by far. Thanks for sharing it with us, Kesha.
