Mobile ‘musolla’ for public

KUALA LUMPUR: Takaful Ikhlas Bhd will set up a mobile musolla (prayer house) during the Merdeka #QuranHour at Dataran Merdeka on Aug 31.

Its president and chief executive officer, Datuk Ab Latiff Abu Bakar, said the mobile musolla, which can accommodat­e about 200 people, will be equipped with facilities for the public to perform ablutions.

“We hope this will benefit the public. We will also provide about 3,000 food packets on that night,” Latiff said at Takaful Ikhlas’s headquarte­rs here yesterday.

Earlier, about 100 staff members attended an interactiv­e religious talk by Takaful Ikhlas Syariah Compliant head of department Ustaz Wan Jemizan Wan Deraman. The session focused on the messages contained in “Surah Yasin”.

Present were Warisan Ummah Ikhlas Foundation chairman Datuk Dr Hussamuddi­n Yaacub.

Hussamuddi­n urged other corporate companies to emulate the generosity of Takaful Ikhlas.

“Other companies can emulate (Takaful Ikhlas) and contribute towards the Merdeka #QuranHour programme.” The World #QuranHour and Merdeka #QuranHour will be held in conjunctio­n with Wukuf in Arafah, Mecca, on the 9th day of Zulhijjah of the Islamic calendar, which coincides with National Day on Aug 31. Quranic recitation­s will be held for an hour.
