MARCELL TO HOLD CONCERT

Indonesian singer chooses Malaysia to stage his solo concert. finds out why

MARCELL has a couple of things to celebrate next month: his 40th birthday and 15th anniversary in the music industry.

The Indonesian singer, whose full name is Marcellius Kirana Hamonangan Siahaan, said he wanted to celebrate these two occasions with a solo concert in Malaysia.

“I chose to have the concert here because Malaysia holds a special place in my heart, and I have always felt this special connection with this country for many reasons, one being that some of the biggest highlights of my career happened here.

“After my song, Hanya Memuji, featuring Shanty, was released in 2000 in Malaysia, my fan base grew tremendously and they’ve been supportive of my music ever since.

“I never expected to receive such warm response from Malaysians back then,” he said recently.

Marcell was in town to promote his debut solo concert here, themed “Once In A Lifetime”. It will be held at KLCC’s Plenary Hall on Sept 23 at 8pm.

“This concert is my way of thanking my fans who have been with me since day one.

“I can’t wait for them to see what’s in store.

“Celebrating these two occasions in the same year is a great coincidence, which is why the theme of the concert is ‘Once In A Lifetime’.” he said he hoped fans from Brunei, Singapore and Indonesia could attend the concert.

Marcell will be accompanied by 14 musicians, led by Indonesian music director Rishanda Singgih. He will sing about 40 of his songs and turn some into medleys.

Asked if any Malaysian acts be featured, with a sheepish grin, Marcell said: “Yes, I plan to collaborate with a few of them, but details are sketchy. I will announce the performers closer to the concert date.”

The concert is a four-party joint collaboration — Marcell, Empire Live, VMC Music Indonesia and Oleg Sanchabakhtiar (from Planet Design Indonesia).

Tickets are priced between RM99 and RM2099 and can be purchased at www.goersapp.com, kiostix.com, airasiaredtix.com and tiket.com.
