Samsung, Lazada tie up to donate tablets, sports equipment

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Samsung Malaysia Electronics is teaming up with Lazada Malaysia to bring education and sports to underprivileged students in Malaysia.

Samsung Malaysia said purchases of RM500 and above of Samsung products from the Samsung official store on Lazada from today until August 23 would contribute to the donation of Samsung Galaxy Tab A tablets to 50 “Tokoh Sukan 2017” winners from 50 selected underserved schools under the Pintar Foundation School programme.

The Tokoh Sukan 2017, organised by schools under the Education Ministry, is an award to recognise students’ achievements in co-curricular activities.

The selection of the winners is based on the students’ highest achievements for the year — be it at school, district, state, national or international level.

With the impending 29th Sea Games (Kuala Lumpur 2017), Samsung is also partnering Lazada to launch Lazada’s Mega Sports Day Expo to encourage more students to become active in sports.

“Customers who purchase any Samsung products via Samsung official store on Lazada Malaysia during this campaign will be glad to know that they will be helping an underprivileged child to gain a well-rounded education.

“Our goal is to ensure that every student, especially those in underserved communities, obtain the relevant support they deserve in education.

“We believe these tablets will positively impact the children’s learning, especially in today’s digital age,” said Samsung Malaysia president Lee Sang Hoon in a statement yesterday. Lazada would also donate sports equipment, such as badminton and table tennis sets, footballs, volleyballs, netballs, hockey sticks and shin guards to the Tokoh Sukan 2017 winners.

Additionally, the official Sea Games merchandise store, FM Store, will also be contributing Sea Games closing ceremony tickets to the winners.
