LANGKAWI: Bank Muamalat Malaysia Bhd customers can now enjoy its banking services on their smartphones, through the “i-Muamalat mobile” application.

Bank Muamalat chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Redza Shah Abdul Wahid said the mobile application would benefit 500,000 account holders.

He said the application allowed users to check their account balance, transfer funds, making bill payment and topup their mobile data credit.

Redza said non-account holders could also use the application to check prayer times, read motivational quotes and locate the nearest Bank Muamalat branch office.

He said the application was equipped with a high security system, which met the security standards set by the Malaysia banking industry.

“More customers prefer to do banking transactions digitally. This is one of our innovative efforts to increase the digital channel for our customers and, at the same time, improve the online banking system,” he said yesterday.

The “i-Muamalat mobile” application was launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak during the Langkawi Digital Initiative at Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre here yesterday.

Bank Muamalat was formed on Oct 1, 1999 and has 62 branches with e-Muamalat banking facilities at 240 locations nationwide.

During the event, the bank also launched the MyDebit system for more than 20,000 teachers and students in Langkawi.
