New agent for Alli spells trouble for Spurs

-

LONDON: Dele Alli is preparing to take on a different agent in a move that will threaten to break Tottenham’s rigid pay structure.

The England star’s decision to consider leaving his longtime representative Rob Segal will alert Europe’s biggest clubs to the possibility of prising him away from Spurs next summer.

Alli, who has made a huge impact since his £5million (RM27.5 million) move from Milton Keynes, knows his market value is more than triple the £60,000a-week deal he signed last September.

Both Manchester clubs and Chelsea are interested, while Alli is keen on a move abroad.

Tottenham will not consider any offers for their midfielder this month, but the club’s relatively modest wage structure will play a significant role in whether they can hold on to their emerging superstar in the long term.

Alli has been looked after by renowned agent Segal since first making an impact with MK Dons, but the 21-year-old is assessing his options with a view to moving agencies.

The news has alerted a host of rival management companies.

Alli signed a new six-year contract worth around £60,000 a week at Spurs last September, but he knows he could make more than £200,000 a week elsewhere, with both Manchester clubs and Chelsea anxious to sign him.

Europe’s top clubs, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain included, are monitoring Alli’s situation and he would like to play abroad at some point, a move which would take into the superstar pay bracket. Daily Mail
