Umno general assembly to be held from Dec 5 to 9

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Razak yesterday announced that the Umno general assembly will be held from Dec 5 to 9.

He, however, did not rule out the possibility that it might be postponed if the 14th General Election is held this year.

Najib said the divisional delegates’ meetings had shown preparedness among members in facing GE14, adding that preparations for the general election had been “on point”.

“If GE14 is to be held (this year), the party assembly will be postponed,” Najib said after chairing the Umno supreme council meeting yesterday.

Present were Umno vice-presidents Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein.

Najib said, according to the party assembly’s programme, events would be preceded by the presidential address, followed by Wanita, Youth and Puteri wings’ assemblies.

He also took a jibe at the chaos during Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia’s Nothing to Hide 2.0 forum.

“The Umno supreme council takes note that all divisional meetings went smoothly and were well-received, with good discipline. No chairs were thrown."

Umno branch meetings were held from March 17 to April 30, while divisional meetings began on July 7 and are scheduled to end tomorrow.
