‘Still room to ensure BN wins big in GE14’

PEKAN: There is still room for Umno and Barisan Nasional to strengthen their preparations to ensure victory in the 14th General Election (GE14), Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said yesterday.

“If we are perfectionists and are not satisfied until everything is as good as possible, then there is still room to increase our preparedness and commitment.

“There is still room to do more to ensure our election machinery wins big in the upcoming election,” Najib said.

He said this during his speech at the opening of the Pekan Umno division delegates’ meeting here yesterday

Najib, who is Umno president, said the meeting concluded the 191 Umno division meetings held nationwide.

He said he was pleased with the unity shown by the party’s three million members.

“I learnt from (acting Umno deputy president) Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi that all Umno members, from Perlis to Sabah, are more bersemangat (fired up) this year.

“This shows that Umno is more stable and disciplined compared with the opposition. I received no reports of seats flying or burning flares,” he said in jest.

Najib said Umno and BN could learn from the fighting spirit shown by local athletes at the ongoing 29th Kuala Lumpur Sea Games in their drive to realise or exceed the 111 gold medal target.
