I’m free to talk to anyone, says PKR deputy president

-

SHAH ALAM: PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali reiterates he is free to hold talks with any party, including Pas, despite adhering to Pakatan Harapan’s decision to exclude the Islamic party from the opposition pact. When met after attending the statelevel National Day celebration at Dataran Kemerdekaan here, Azmin coyly answered he “could talk to anyone”, to questions whether he would cease talks with Pas.

“I can talk to anyone. Last night, I talked to Zahid (Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi).

“Yesterday, I talked to prime minister (Datuk Seri Najib Razak).”

On Tuesday, the Pakatan presidential council issued a statement announcing that there would be no cooperation between the coalition and Pas.

Azmin has supported continuing discussions between Pakatan and Pas, although the efforts have not borne success.

The Selangor menteri besar is known to favour forming a pact with Pas, especially in the 14th General Election (GE14).

However, Azmin said his focus would be on preparing PKR’s machinery as per the decision by Pakatan’s presidential council.

“We accept and will execute the decision.

“Our focus is on strengthening our machinery to face GE14, and prepare for the possibility of three-cornered fights, as has been decided by the Pakatan council.”
