DAMAGED KK SIGNAGE A DANGER TO MOTORISTS

-

A DAMAGED signage in Jalan KK Bypass in Kota Kinabalu poses a danger to motorists and pedestrians.

Motorist Nabila Ghani, 31, told Actionline that the signage, near the old public library and Kota Kinabalu City Hall building, had been damaged for two weeks.

“I noticed the damage when I passed the area two weeks ago. Until Aug 29, it still hasn’t been repaired.

“The signage is not only broken in half, but the two poles holding it are slanted towards the walkway.

“They could collapse and injure pedestrians.

“I am also concerned that the metal sheet would fly off during a strong wind, causing danger to motorists and pedestrians.”

Nabila said the weather in the state was uncertain and thunderstorms could occur at

any time.

ACTIONLINE:

Kota Kinabalu City Hall’s Public Relations and Complaints Department director Syron A. Tunggolou said the matter was under the jurisdiction of the Public Works Department.

“The signage is in PWD’s area, so it will repair the signage.

“We have forwarded the complaint to the department.”

PWD civil engineer Jamilah Tukang, who is incharge of road maintenance in Kota Kinabalu and Putatan, said the department would remove the signage.

She said the signage would be replaced with a new one, adding that the department would request an allocation for it.
