THE celebrated Japanese Film Festival (JFF2017) is back with 14 new selections of Japan’s leading contemporary movies never before screened here.
Running from Sept 7 to Oct 1, the celebration offers a thrilling slate of box office favourites, eye-opening documentaries and highly anticipated manga adaptations that promise a truly immersive cultural experience for audiences of all ages and taste.
Making the showcase even more special is the appearance of matinee idol Saitoh Takumi, who will present a special preview of his directorial film debut, at GSC Pavilion KL on Sept 5.
The family drama depicts two brothers coming to terms with their absent father’s death. Takumi will also attend the festival’s opening ceremony later the same evening, with him back in front of the camera for his award-winning supporting role in curtainraiser, Fans of the actor-model-singer can see him up close at a meet-and-greet session, to be held at Tokyo Street, Pavilion KL at 4pm on the same day.

The month-long festival will make its rounds first in the Klang Valley from Sept 7 to 13 at GSC Mid Valley, GSC 1Utama, GSC Pavilion KL and GSC Nu Sentral.
Up next is Penang (GSC Gurney Plaza from Sept 14 to 17) followed by Kuching (GSC CityOne Megamall from Sept 21 to 24) and Kota Kinabalu (GSC Suria Sabah from Sept 28 to Oct 1).
