7,000 jobs up for grabs at fair
KUALA LUMPUR: More than 7,000 jobs are up for grabs at the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (Mida) Open Day 2017 at its headquarters, here, on September 18.
Walk-in interviews under the Career Fair segment will involve more than 50 foreign and local companies.
Mida chief executive officer Datuk Azman Mahmud said yesterday the fair was a valuable employment avenue for job seekers.
He said participating companies included Composites Technology Research Malaysia, Nadi Malaysia, Petronas Chemical, ViTrox, Infineon Technologies, Inari, Hotayi Electronics Malaysia and Lazada.
International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed is expected to officiate at the Mida Open Day, which will be held in conjunction with Mida’s 50th anniversary as the country’s principal investment promotion agency.
“Mida has come a long way since it began its operations in 1967 as a key link in the promotion and coordination of development in Malaysia.
“Today, more than 8,000 companies from more than 40 countries have made Malaysia their base for manufacturing and related services operations.”
The event is expected to attract more than 5,000 participants.
Azman said the open day would also feature industry talks, exhibitions and business clinics.
“The industry talks and exhibitions offers ample networking opportunities among a variety of industry players and the general public to be better informed on the latest development of Malaysia’s main industry.
The featured topic, “The Internet of Things Effect — Opportunities and Challenges” will involve presentations by Intel, Infienon Technologies and ViTrox Technologies.
Companies such as Coca-Cola, Nestle, Yakult, UMW Aerospace and KNK Holdings are also among the exhibitors during the open day.
Azman said they were also organising the Mida Media Awards, which would be held on September 30 together with its gala dinner, also at its headquarters. Tasnim Lokman
