No decision yet on V Shem-Wee Kiong

-

THE BA of Malaysia (BAM) have denied that any decision has been made to split the partnership of Goh V Shem and Tan Wee Kiong.

BAM president Datuk Seri Norza Zakaria said a decision will only be made at the association’s coaching and training (C&T) committee meeting on Sept 18.

“As it is now clear that V Shem and Wee Kiong are having issues with each other, we will wait for technical director Morten Frost’s proposal to the C&T.

“The proposal will be based on discussions between Wee Kiong and national doubles coach Cheah Soon Kit.

“If a decision is made to split them, we will need to identify new partners for each shuttler,” said Norza yesterday.

On Friday, Frost disclosed that V Shem and Wee Kiong have given up on their partnership and want new partners

Wee Kiong is currently in Vietnam to speak to Soon Kit on having a new partner.

Malaysia Masters runners-up Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izuddin Rumsani could play a part in the new pairings.

“We had discussions with V Shem and Wee Kiong and both agreed that their future are with new partners,” said Frost.

In last month’s World Championships in Glasgow, the former World No 1 were shown the door by little known South Koreans Chung Eeu Seok-Kim Duk Young in the second round.

"Once the new partnerships have been decided, they will be entered for the French Open, Bitburger Open, Macau Open, China Open and Hong Kong Open," added Frost.
