SUGARBUN TO GO MOBILE

BornOil plans food truck ops to boost market reach

-

BORNEO Oil Bhd’s (BornOil) food and beverage (F&B) division, under the Sugarbun brand is embarking on a mobile food truck initiative to increase its market reach.

BornOil executive director Raymond Teo said the initiative would first be piloted in Kota Kinabalu later this year before moving on to other states.

BornOil owns 89 SugarBun outlets nationwide, including its newest one in Gambang, Pahang. Teo said the company intended to open five more outlets later this year.

“Last year, we successfully introduced SugarBun to Peninsular Malaysia with the opening of our flagship outlet in Menara Hap Seng, here,” said Teo.

“Our famous ‘Broasted Chicken’ and savoury rice meal continues to remain popular for our patrons in the peninsula, followed by clay pot chicken mushroom soup, Sabah giant garoupa fish noodles and fish burger,” he said.

In addition to Sugarbun, BornOil has 49 outlets under its “Pezzo” brand.

On other business divisions, Teo said BornOil’s limestone marble production was providing bottom-line profit in the form of royalties.

“We believe the supply of limestone to the cement industry in Sabah will contribute positively to BornOil’s bottom line,” said Teo.

Besides F&B and mining, BornOil is also involved in in oil and gas, renewal energy and property-related operations, among others.

The company was founded in 1979 and formerly known as Sugar Bun Corp Bhd. It changed to the current name in January 2007.
