POLICE yesterday detained two boys, aged 11 and 10, for allegedly raping a 9-year-old girl. State Criminal Investigation Department chief Datuk Dev Kumar, however, said the boys were released once police recorded their statements yesterday.

He said the 32-year-old mother of the alleged victim had lodged a report on Sunday after finding her daughter and the two boys in a “compromising position” inside the fertiliser store at the plantation where she worked.

“When she entered the store, she was shocked to find her daughter lying on a mattress with no clothes from the waist down.

“One of the boys, both believed to be acquaintances of the girl, was on top of her.

“The mother dragged the daughter out of the store and saw some red stains on her private parts,” he said.

The mother suspected that her daughter might have been sexually abused and lodged a report at the Limbang police station here.

The victim, said Dev, was sent to Miri Hospital to be examined yesterday.

“The suspects were brought to the station this evening (yesterday) for questioning. We need to wait for the report from the hospital on the medical examination conducted on the victim before taking the next course of action,” he said.
