Annuar Musa faces fight

-

A BATIK manufacturer and a contractor are among the candidates who will take on Tan Sri Annuar Musa for the post of president of the debt-ridden Kelantan FA (Kafa).

Bibi Ramjani Ilias Khan, the owner of Desa Murni Batik Sdn Bhd, and Chengal Jati Sdn Bhd owner Datuk Shaari Hassan were nominated along with Annuar and two other individuals for the top post.

Nominations closed on Sunday. Kafa’s congress-cum-election is scheduled in Kota Baru on Sunday.

The other candidates for the top position are Karangkraf deputy director Datuk Mohd Nasir Hamzah and national futsal manager Datuk Rosmadi Ismail

Annuar was first elected Kafa president in 2007, before he tendered his resignation late last year to devote more attention to welfare activities.

The politician stated recently that he is willing to come back and help Kelantan win titles again in the M-League.

His leadership turned Kelantan from an FAM Cup side to a Malaysia Cup, Super League and FA Cup-winning team, who reached the 2012 AFC Cup quarter-finals.

But in recent years, the east coast side have been beset by inconsistent performance, repeated coaches’ sacking, and financial woes.

Former FA of Malaysia (FAM) deputy president Datuk Seri Afandi Hamzah has been the interim president since Annuar’s resignation.

Afandi, however, will only defend his deputy post in the election with Rosmadi, Nasir and Shaari all being nominated for the same position.

“The nominees must accept their nominations by Thursday. We are expecting exciting outcomes for the president, deputy president, vice-president and executive committee posts”, Kafa secretary Datuk Ismail Mohd Noor said yesterday.

A total of 52 delegates will cast their votes to decide on the new office-bearers for the term of 2017-21.
