Man held for FB roy­alty in­sult

KUALA LUMPUR: A 21-year-old man has been re­manded for al­legedly insulting the late Sul­tan of Kedah Sul­tan Ab­dul Halim Mu’adzam Shah on Face­book.

Fed­eral po­lice Com­mer­cial Crime In­ves­ti­ga­tion De­part­ment di­rec­tor Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Ab­dul­lah Sani said the man was ar­rested at a house in Gent­ing High­lands at 12.27am yes­ter­day.

Acryl said the sus­pect was held un­der sus­pi­cion of up­load­ing an of­fen­sive post on the late Sul­tan Ab­dul Halim on Face­book.

“He has been re­manded for two days to help in in­ves­ti­ga­tions. We have also seized a smart­phone and a lap­top,” he said yes­ter­day.

He added that po­lice were search­ing for an­other man who was also sus­pected of insulting the late sul­tan.

Both cases are be­ing in­ves­ti­gated un­der Sec­tion 233 of the Com­mu­ni­ca­tion and Mul­ti­me­dia Act 1998 for im­proper use of net­work fa­cil­i­ties or net­work ser­vice.
