because it’s a collaborative effort that I’d like to celebrate together with the cast and crew.”

However, the 32-year-old feels that all nominated films in FFM29 have an equal chance of winning.

She said: “We can’t say which movie will win Best Film because the films have plus points and flaws.

“For example, people say is too complicated but it’s the most mainstream work from (director) Dain Said so far. on the other hand, is full of human interest but doesn’t feature a commercial cast.

“There is no clear winner but it’s great to see the varied and experimentative efforts that local filmmakers have made to make the industry shine brighter. As an actress, it’s an honour to be part of it.”

FFM29 will be held tomorrow at Dewan Merdeka, Putra World Trade Centre with Zizan Razak as host.

It will be broadcast live on Astro Ria (Astro Channel 104) beginning 9pm following the red carpet event at 8.30pm.

The performers of the night include Salamiah Hassan and her daughter Atilia Haron, Duoliti (featuring KRU), Mirwana & UNIC, Shiha Zikir and Akim & The Majistret.

Fifty-three films (in Malay, English, Tamil and Mandarin) including

and dream is to direct or produce my own film, but I’ve got a long way to go.”

Nadiya’s upcoming film is new filmmaker Jimmy Amir’s drama (working title), which also stars Nadia Brian, Remy Ishak and Iedil Putra.

Meanwhile, in Diana plays Nina, who spoils her Dutch trader father’s plans when she returns to Malaya and falls for a local man.

The Texas-born actress shot in 2010 when she was just 18. In terms of her performance, she feels that she had delivered the best of what her 18-year-old self could.

She says: “It’s just odd how the film becomes a contender for FFM seven years after it was made. It’s so long ago!

“But I’ve recently made my comeback as a full-time actress, so winning an award will be a nice welcoming gift that I hope will inspire me to work harder.”

Diana did receive more film offers after and she had starred as lead in

(2013) as well as

(2014).

But apparently most of the offers hadn’t piqued her interest. “I don’t want to just act in any movie. It must have a strong enough reason for me to leave my children at home.

“I know for someone who’s warming up to become active again,

I shouldn’t be so fussy, but, at the same time, the story has to be meaningful.”

Diana is completing her work in the highly anticipated drama adapted from a Korean series and set to premiere in November.

She will also be hosting a Discovery Channel programme where she introduces Malaysia’s unique travel destinations to foreign celebrities from around the region.
