Russian fairytales come alive
The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra presents music from universal tales and excerpts from ballet scores, writes Dennis Chua
THE Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra will take you on a musical trip to Russia and present magical fairytales in the form of classical gems at 8.30pm tomorrow and 3pm on Sunday at Dewan Filharmonik Petronas, KLCC, Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur.
These concerts will feature substantial excerpts from two full-length ballet scores, both by Russians and based on beloved universal fairytales about a handsome prince in search of a beautiful maiden whom, following many difficulties, he eventually finds and marries.
from from will indeed put the audience in a magical splendour.
The MPO will also perform Bartok’s
collaborating with French violinist Renaud Capucon, who has performed with many prominent orchestras such as the Philadelphia Orchestra, Leipzig Gewandhaus and the Philharmonia.
A prolific recording artiste, he has collaborated with luminaries such as JeanYves Thibaudet, Martha Argerich, Yuri Bashmet and Truls Mork.

Deneve who has collaborated with the MPO in 2012.
Music director of the Brussels Philharmonic, he is recognised for his exceptional quality of his performance on the podium, weaving magic on the world’s most renowned orchestras.
He also has a special affinity for the music of his native France. A passionate advocate for new music, he has led opera productions at La Scala, Deutsche Oper Berlin and Netherlands Opera.
