Motorist engaged in shouting match with DBKL men held

KUALA LUMPUR: Police obtained a three-day remand order against a man who was engaged in a shouting match with the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) enforcemen­t officers and passers-by in Cheras here over a traffic infraction.

A source close to the investigat­ions said the remand order, which started yesterday, was obtained from a magistrate’s court to facilitate a probe into the incident, which went viral recently.

The case is being in- vestigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum two years’ jail, a maximum RM10,000 fine or both upon conviction.

Cheras police chief Assistant Commission­er Chong Kok Sin said the remand order would end tomorrow.

The four-minute video shows the man, clad in a striped T-shirt, accompanie­d by woman, shouting at two uniformed men, believed to be DBKL officers.

It is learnt that the drama ensued after the officers clamped his car, which was parked illegally outside the Cheras Leisure Mall here.

The video also shows the man challengin­g the officers to take off their uniform and fight.

Two women, believed to be the man’s family members, try to pacify him, but in vain.

The man retrieves a stick from his car before confrontin­g one of the officers.

The video then shows his vehicle (a silver Perodua Myvi) being unclamped by a man.

The video racked up more than 30,000 views and was shared almost 300 times by Netizens.
