PETALING JAYA: Malaysia Airlines Bhd chief executive officer Peter Bellew has described recently-appointed director Habibul Rahman Kadir Shah as someone who is “energetic with fresh ideas”.

Habibul Rahman, who was appointed as a non-executive director on May 18, has strong views on how the airline should improve, said Bellew at a briefing, here, yesterday.

He said Habibul Rahman, who is also a director of Malaysia Aviation Group Bhd, has been most energetic since coming on board.

“Habibul has a different perspective to the airline. He is an accountant. He has experience with multinational companies.

“He also certainly has very strong views about the improvements that we need to make on the quality of the product and the quality of the services,” said Bellew.

He also welcomed former Telekom Malaysia Bhd group chief executive Tan Sri Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa to the airline’s board.

Habibul Rahman is a graduate from UiTM and an associate member of the Institute of Secretaries and Administrators, Park Crescent, London.

He served as an accountant in three multinational conglomerates, namely Bata, Nestle and L’oreal for more than 10 years before setting up his own consulting practice in corporate strategy and financial adviser in the area of merger, acquisition, takeover, restructuring and divestment.

He has been successful in helping a number of blue-chip Malaysian companies, enterprises and listed companies to revitalise their operations. Lidiana Rosli
