MSU celebrates Malaysia Day
PUTRAJAYA: The Management and Science University (MSU) Students Representative Council organised the MSU Malaysia Day 2017 Convoy to inculcate the spirit of patriotism and love for the country.
A total of 250 students took part in the convoy, which kicked off at 7am from the MSU campus in Shah Alam, and made its way to the Higher Education Ministry here.
It was organised by the MSU Student and Career Development Department, and officiated by Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh, accompanied by MSU president Prof Tan Sri Dr Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid.
Shukri said the annual event was organised to show their appreciation for the government and the authorities, as well as peace in the country.
“The event hopes to promote community engagement and patriotism in students. Students also launched a Rohingya fund. We want to highlight how lucky we are to be in Malaysia. We feel responsible and want to help those who are less fortunate,” he said after flagging off the convoy at the ministry.
The convoy stopped at four other locations in the federal administrative capital: the Education Ministry, Rural and Regional Development Ministry, Youth and Sports Ministry and Health Ministry.
MSU Students Representative Council president Nur Najwa Athirah Noor Zari, 23, said each of the ministries had played its role and contributed to youth empowerment in education, rural development and health.
“At each stop, our choir will sing songs that ignite patriotism.”
