ERRANT DRIVERS BLOCK ROAD

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Residents of Jalan Tualang, Bangsar, are fed up with the lack of civic-mindedness among the public who continue to park haphazardly in their neighbourhood.

According to the residents, there is a commercial lot at the junction between Jalan Maarof and Jalan Tualang, right next to a traffic light.

They said motorists who park at the side of Jalan Tualang (including the opposite direction) cause a lot of inconvenience to the residents.

A concerned resident who wished to be identified as Sharon claimed that the private commercial lot was operated by a company.

“Whenever there are functions going on, they cause inconvenience to the residents with cars being parked along Jalan Tualang.

“Sometimes, when drivers stop to drop off goods or passengers, it blocks the road as it is narrow.

“With such a situation, it is difficult for residents to enter.

“We are aware they are running a business, but they need to understand they have neighbours and that it is the only access road to our homes. Although the commercial lot is situated along Jalan Maarof, the building’s entrance to the event space is at Jalan Tualang,” she said, adding that the emergency access meant for fire engines had been covered for a private car park.

ACTIONLINE:

A Kuala Lumpur City Hall spokesman said an enforcement team had monitored the site. He said action would be taken against traffic offenders.

“We will continue to monitor the place,” he said.
