Widow plans to quit job, return to hometown

KOTA BARU: The widow of one of the navy man who died at a detention unit in Perak on Friday is planning to move to Kelantan to raise her three children.

Noor Bazlin Mohamad, the widow of Nik Muhammad Baihaqy Nik Mat, said she planned to resign from her job at a government clinic in Kuala Lumpur and move to her mother’s home in Jalan Bayam here.

“I am currently on compassionate leave. But I will resign from my job at the clinic, where I have worked for more than four years.

“I will return to Kelantan so my three children and I can be close to our relatives. I will also find a new job to support my family,” she told the New Straits Times yesterday.

She said her children had not been sleeping well because they deeply missed their father.

Baihaqy’s sister, Nik Norliliwati, said her family had not yet engaged a lawyer.

“But we will continue with our plan to take legal action against those responsible for the death of our sibling. We must put a stop to this cruel act. Otherwise, it will happen to other people and their family members will suffer,” said the 44-year-old tailor.

Norliliwati also said she was shocked by the news that two more sailors had been hospitalised after being allegedly abused.

“Baihaqy’s frequent complaints that something was wrong at his workplace were not unfounded. His face showed that he was fearful of something.”
