Chan to meet fans on Saturday

-

WHEN Perak-born Diana Chan won MasterChef Australia Season 9 last July, Malaysia rejoiced. Now, the Melbourne-based cook is here to meet her Malaysian fans on Saturday.

Her meet-and-greet event, open to the public, is dubbed “Homecoming Celebration of a Lifetime”, and will take place at Mid Valley Megamall’s South Court on the ground floor between noon and 6pm.

The self-taught cook will not only share her experience on the show and her joy of winning the title with her fellow Malaysians, she will also take questions from the floor.

The 29-year-old will also conduct a live cooking demonstration featuring one of her signature dishes.

On top of that, fans will also have a chance to meet two Malaysian finalists of MasterChef Asia, Jasbir Kaur and Marcus Low, who will also be showcasing their culinary skills at the event.

For those who can’t make a date with Chan on that day, don’t fret as the event will be streamed on Facebook Live by @LifetimeAsia.

Last Saturday, Chan held a private cooking demonstration in Bukit Bintang for a selected group of Malaysian food lovers. It was a by-invitation only event.

The accountant, who grew up in Johor Baru, said she enjoyed watching her parents whip up Peranakan dishes at home before leaving for Australia to pursue her studies and career.

All that learning and observing has paid off handsomely for her as besides the MasterChef Australia Season 9 champion title, she also took home the grand prize of A$250,000 (RM825,000) in the popular culinary TV competition.

Chan overcame plenty of fierce challenges and beat 23 other amateur home cooks on the show.

She left a lasting impression on viewers with her calm and collected approach in the kitchen; besides promoting various Malaysian flavours.

Lifetime (Astro Channel 709) will be airing reruns of Chan’s triumphant three-month journey on MasterChef Australia.
