Sultan Ibrahim raises stake in Berjaya Assets

KUALA LUMPUR: Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, has emerged as the secondlarg­est individual shareholde­r in Berjaya Assets Bhd.

His Majesty increased his stake in the company to 10.09 per cent after completing the purchase of 80 million shares, for a total of 120 million.

Berjaya Assets largest shareholde­r Tan Sri Vincent Tan said the acquisitio­n demonstrat­ed His Majesty’s positive outlook on Berjaya Assets’ long-term future.

“I am very pleased that DYMM Sultan Ibrahim has increased his stake in Berjaya Assets,” he said.

Tan added that Sultan Ibrahim being the second-largest substantia­l shareholde­r of Berjaya Assets augured well for the company.

Berjaya Assets Group is the major owner of Berjaya Times Square, one of Malaysia’s largest retail and commercial malls.

The mall also houses Berjaya Times Square Theme Park, the largest indoor theme park in Malaysia.

In Johor Baru, the group owns the Berjaya Waterfront Hotel, Shopping Complex and Ferry Terminal, as well as office units in Menara MSC Cyberport.

Through its 100 per centowned subsidiary, Berjaya Assets Food Sdn Bhd, Berjaya Assets obtained a licence agreement with Greyhound Café Co Ltd for exclusive rights to establish and operate cafes under the “Greyhound Café” trademark in Malaysia.
