Malaysia to gain from strategic investments by global technology leaders such as Honeywell, says Mustapa

“By having most of the top regional decision makers of Honeywell here, Malaysia stands to gain from collaborations that could be entered into with local universities, talent and innovation agencies as well as SMEs,” said Mustapa at the launch of the Honeywell’s Asean headquarters, here, yesterday.
The United States-based Fortune 100 diversified global technology and manufacturing leader is a member of Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology’s committee tasked with looking into opportunities arising from Industry 4.0.
Preparing talents for Industry 4.0 is something that the government is looking into seriously and the National Policy Blueprint on Industry 4.0 will be out by the end of this year.
Mustapa also lauded the multinational’s efforts to motivate local students to study science, technology, engineering and mathematics through participation in the Honeywell Educators at Space Academy programme.
Meanwhile, the new headquarters houses more than 400 employees from four businesses, namely aerospace, home and building technologies, safety and productivity solutions and performance materials and technologies.
Honeywell Asean president Briand Greer said the company was looking at urbanisation in the region, growth of e-commerce, Industry 4.0, Internet of Things and the growth of the Chinese Silk Road initiatives as attractive factors.
He expects a 15 per cent increase in revenue growth across the Asean region in two years.
