Free health checks benefit 2,500

-

HULU TERENGGANU: About 2,500 Felcra settlers from In-situ Hulu Berang, near Betong, have benefited from a medical outreach programme that provides free health screenings.

The programme was organised by Felcra Foundation and Pertubuhan Himpunan Lepasan Institusi Pendidik Malaysia (Haluan), in collaboration with Media Prima Berhad through the Media Prima-NSTP Volunteer Brigade.

Adabi Consumer Industries Sdn Bhd provided the spices used to prepare free meals and distributed sample packets to the settlers.

Federal Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (Felcra) Berhad chief liaison officer Datuk Dr Najmil Faiz Mohamed Aris said 36 volunteers took part in the programme.

“They consisted seven people from Felcra Foundation, five doctors and nine paramedics from Haluan, and 15 volunteers from the Media Prima-NSTP Volunteer Brigade.

“The programme is aimed at providing free access to basic medical examinations and consultations for the settlers and residents in the vicinity,” said Najmil Faiz yesterday.

Media Prima group corporate communications executive Muhammad Nadzrein Johari said the event was a good platform to expose volunteers to corporate social responsibility initiatives.

“We also took part in group activities with the settlers and assisted them in screening their health and preparing meals.”
