Rahman leads honours list
KOTA KINABALU: Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan heads the list of 1,023 recipients of Sabah state awards conferred in conjunction with the 64th birthday of Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin.
The Kota Belud member of parliament is one of seven recipients of the Seri Panglima Darjah Kinabalu (SPDK) award, which carries the title “Datuk Seri Panglima”.
The others are Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Teng-ku Mansor; State Special Task Minister Datuk Teo Chee Kang; Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun; Army Chief General Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor; Upko advisory council member Datuk Balanggung @ Egbert Evaristus; and Tanjung Aru Eco Development executive director Datuk Victor Subbrayan Paul.
The investiture will be held at the Istana Negeri today.
Sixty-eight people will receive the Panglima Gemilang Darjah Kinabalu (PGDK) award, which carries the title “Datuk”.
They include Sabah police Commissioner Datuk Ramli Din; Navy Eastern Fleet Commander Vice-Admiral Datuk Syed Zahiruddin Putra Syed Osman; Task Force 450 Commander Major General Datuk Zulkapri Rahamat; Universiti Malaysia Sabah Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr D. Kamarudin D. Mudin; Kuala Penyu assemblyman and Beaufort Upko chief Limus Jury; and Luyang assemblyman Dr Hiew King Cheu.
The 14 individuals who will receive the Justice of the Peace include Sabah Umno youth chief Yamani Hafez Musa, Sabah Rubber Industry Board chairman and Tenom Umno chief Datuk Rubin Balang; Sabah Corridor Development deputy chairman 2 Datuk Peter Pang En Yin; and Sabah Rubber Industry Board general manager Datuk Harris Mathews.
A total of 935 people will receive the other awards — Ahli Setia Darjah Kinabalu ASDK (88), Ahli Darjah Kinabalu ADK (156), Bintang Kinabalu (306), Bintang Setia Kinabalu (233) and Certificate of Honour (152).
Members of the media who will receive awards are Kota Kinabalu Journalist Association president and See Hua chief reporter Yong Ted Phen (ADK), Utusan Borneo sports reporter Qwek Tsy Teo (ADK) and RTM cameraman Dasni Daud (Certificate of Honour).
