PT3 exam starts today
KUALA LUMPUR: The Form Three Assessment (PT3) written test kicks off today and will see 425,251 candidates sitting the four-day written examination.
According to the Education Ministry, 394,458 candidates are from national schools while 10,949 are from private schools.
A total of 9,034 candidates come from state religious schools, schools under government agencies (6,570), people’s religious schools (2,540), private schools not registered with ministries (1,091), private candidates (544) and 65 candidates from integrity schools, moral hostels and devotional schools.
The examination, running for the fourth year, is prepared by the respective secondary schools with the responsibility in the hands of school heads.
In some districts, questions are prepared by the District Education Office.
It is not like the previous centralised examination system.
For PT3, students will receive a set of four result slips: PT3 result, the School-Based Assessment (PBS), a psychometric assessment and a sports assessment.
Schools will then decide, based on the four assessments, which stream suits students best.
This method helps parents and students in making a more informed decision on the selection of streams.
