MUDAJAYA Group Bhd, which bagged RM1.16 billion worth of Light Rail Transit 3 (LRT3) award yesterday, is the fourth industry player to win a contract package for the development.

Last week, Prasarana Malaysia Bhd awarded RM3.96 billion worth of LRT3 contracts to Sunway Construction Bhd (SunCon), Gabungan AQRS Bhd and WCT Holdings Bhd.

The latest award places Mudajaya’s outstanding order book to RM3.5 billion.

With four big LRT3 jobs already awarded, Prasarana now has six more major civil works packages to be awarded for the project.

According to industry analysts, IJM Corp Bhd and Muhibbah Engineering remains potential beneficiaries of the remaining LRT3 packages, while Gamuda Bhd is the top choice for a 2km underground package.

According a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Mudajaya, via whollyowned unit Mudajaya Corp Bhd, will undertake the construction and completion of guideways, stations, park and ride, ancillary buildings and other associated works from Bandar Utama to Johan Setia.

The project is expected to be completed by February 2021 with a construction period of 39 months from the date of the Letter of Acceptance.

The lion’s share of Prasarana’s recent three LRT viaduct and station packages, worth a combined RM4 billion, was bagged by SunCon, which took a RM2.2 billion contract for the construction of guideways, park and ride facilities and six stations along a 9.2km stretch, the longest and highest-value LRT3 package.

Gabungan AQRS secured a RM1.2 billion LRT3 package to build guideways and three stations over a 4.2km stretch of the LRT3 alignment, while WCT Holdings bagged the third and smallest package, valued at RM640 million.

With this contract win, together with another RM840 million package won in August, the company’s order book has been boosted to RM6 billion from RM4.5 billion at end of the second quarter of this year.
