Bidding opens for ‘KEL’ vehicle registration number

-

ALOR STAR: The Kedah Road Transport Department (RTD) has opened the bidding for vehicle registration number “KEL” beginning yesterday until Oct 23.

Its director, Ismasuhaimi Shariff, said the department was expecting a good response from the public, following the success of the “KEE” and “KEK” series.

He said for the “KEE” series, the department had collected a highest bid of RM308,000, while “KEK” had recorded the highest bid of RM189,000 three months ago.

“We expect ‘KEL’ to garner higher bids since the combination can create many words including

‘KEL 14’

(KELIA),

KEL 413

(KELAB),

KEL 154

(KELISA) and ‘KEL

1847’ (KELIBAT).

“The price of the number is divided into several categories, with the tender for ‘gold numbers’ of a single-digit number until 10 to be opened from RM10,000 onwards,” he said here yesterday.

He said for ascending numbers, the bidding began at RM2,000 and for popular numbers, the bidding price started at RM310.

He said the department was expecting the “KEL” series to garner a collective bid of RM2 million, surpassing “KEE”, which collected RM1.88 million.

He added that the “KEK” registration number was expected to reach the 9000 series by early next month.

He said those who were interested could submit their bidding tenders to the Kedah RTD director.

Information and guidelines for the tender can be obtained from the RTD website at http://www.jpj.gov.my/.
