Determined Danny has no plans to retire just yet

-

MALAYSIAN golfer Danny Chia is not retiring anytime soon.

The 45-year-old believes he is not finished yet as he aims to continue the momentum from his commendable Yeangder Tournament Players Championship campaign at the CIMB Classic, which starts tomorrow.

Danny said he pushes hard every day and if he can keep up, retirement will be out of the question.

“At my age, I need to keep pushing hard in order to improve. If I do not make progress then I will consider retirement soon. But to prevent that from happening, I am pushing myself every day,” said Danny.

“I am trying to be a better golfer every day, a better ‘Danny Chia’ every day and that’s my goal.”

Last weekend, Danny finished joint 11th in the Yeangder tournament in Taiwan.

He hopes to maintain his form in the CIMB Classic.

“I haven’t done anything different, just doing the same stuff, working with my coaches and hopefully, I will keep my momentum going,” said the golfer.

Danny’s best finish in the CIMB Classic was joint 13th in 2011.

However, he said the challenge will be different this time as the tournament will be held on a different course (TPC Kuala Lumpur).

“In 2011, I was very familiar with the Mines (Resort and Golf Club) and I did well. TPC is not a new challenge as I have been playing here for the last 18 months,” he said.

Danny added that TPC’s West Course is pretty much the same as when he stepped foot on it same time last year.

“The greens seemed to be rolling pretty well and I quite like it,” he said.

Danny has recorded two top-10 finish this season at Queen’s Cup in Koh Samui ( joint ninth) and at Take Solution Masters in India ( joint 10th).

Danny will be joined by two other Malaysians, who collected their maiden Asian Tour title this season, Queen’s Cup winner Nicholas Fung and 2017 Taiwan Masters victor Gavin Green as they square off against a star-studded cast which includes World No 3 Hideki Matsuyama and twotime CIMB Classic champion Justin Thomas.
