HI-TECH CLASSROOM IMPRESSES NAJIB

‘PAK-21 will produce a new generation with greater creative, critical thinking skills’

-

PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak yesterday went to SMK Putrajaya Presint 8(1) here to observe the 21st century learning method (PAK-21) that is being implemented at the school.

He was attracted to the use of gadgets in the classroom and found the teaching and learning process more interactive, as well as capable of stimulating the students’ interests and making the class more exciting.

“This method, which I’m confident of, is able to produce a new generation (of youth) with more creativity and critical thinking (skills), increased confidence in communication, as well as able to work as a team.

“Generally, there is more positive energy in the class compared with the old or conventional way,” he said.

Also present during the visit was Education Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid.

Najib congratulated the Education Ministry for the success of its trial PAK-21 implementation and hoped that it could be expanded.

Mahdzir hoped Najib would provide an allocation in 2018 Budget to be tabled this Oct 27, for converting conventional classrooms to hold PAK-21 classes.

He said, schools with PAK-21 classes were funded with the cooperation of the Parent-Teacher Association, school alumni associations and the private sector. Bernama
