‘Look out for those who have yet to register as voters’

-

SEREMBAN: Puteri Umno leaders nationwide have been directed to identify division-level members above 21 years of age who have yet to register as voters.

Its national chief, Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin, said it was vital to ensure that all eligible Puteri Umno leaders and members were registered as voters with the Election Commission (EC).

“Puteri Umno members’ votes are crucial to ensure Barisan Nasional’s victory in the next general election.

“Their registration is vital in the next six months, as the general election is just around the corner,” Mas Ermieyati said here yesterday at a get-together session with Puteri members in Negri Sembilan.

Out of 400,000 Puteri members nationwide, some 40,000 had yet to register as voters.

Mas Ermieyati said in Negri Sembilan, which has 30,000 Puteri Umno members, some 2,000 members had yet to register with EC.

“It might be a small number, but every vote is crucial, in every division, to ensure BN’s win,” she said.

Mas Ermieyati added that it was possible that those who had yet to register were not aware that they needed to do so once they turned 21.

“We will go down to the ground nationwide to find out why, and urge them to register as voters,” she said.
