‘People fed up with opposition leaders’

-

PADANG TERAP: The poor turnout at the Pakatan Harapanled rally yesterday proved that people are fed up with opposition leaders.

Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid yesterday said people were no longer interested in such a rally, which was nothing but a platform to attack the Barisan Nasional government without offering a clear plan for the nation.

Mahdzir said this was reflected by the poor turnout, which was less than 10 per cent of what was targeted in the “Sayangi Malaysia, Hapuskan Kleptokrasi” rally.

He said none of the coalition leaders talked about blueprints or concrete plans for the country in the rally from 4.30pm to 10.30pm.

“All the leaders, including Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, did in the rally was to condemn and hurl allegations at BN.

“As the former prime minister and the coalition’s leader, it is inappropriate for Dr Mahathir to label Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak as the country’s enemy.

“It is absurd and unbecoming of them (opposition leaders) to resort to swearing and cursing in public, no matter how much they disagreed with the ruling party.

“People are losing respect and could not care less about them. Malaysia is a democratic country, hence we should practise moderation,” he said in a press conference after attending a gathering with Umno veterans at Kampung Kubang Bemban here.
