HARD WORK PAYS OFF FOR SARA AMELIA

Getting support is key, the newly-crowned ‘Clever Girl Malaysia’ tells TAHIR ALHAMZAH

MODEL Sara Amelia Muhammad Bernard is grateful to her supporters, some of whom had driven all the way from Ipoh, Perak, to cheer for her at the finale of Clever Girl Malaysia last Friday.

“Without them, I might not have the confidence to stay calm and win this competition,” said the 25-year-old from Perak.

At the finale last week at Sri Pentas 2, Plaza Alam Sentral in Shah Alam, Sara beat three other finalists — Shazana Kamaruzaman, Fadila Zuraida Mohd Nor and Hani Nazrina Hanizar — to win the contest and RM100,000.

“I’m so relieved that the competition has come to an end.

“I’ve been working hard for the past 10 weeks, reading and improving my knowledge. I’m glad that my hard work has paid off.”

On the prize money she won, Sara said she planned to use part of the money to start an initiative to benefit society.

“I’d like to empower single mothers or those who had been through traumatising experiences.

“Maybe, it’ll be like a place where single women can converge and pick up skills to assist them in the future.

“Right now, I’m not sure how I’m going to go about it, but will see how things pan out.”

Sara also plans to further her studies, either in communications or psychology, next year.

“At the moment, I intend to try television hosting with TV3.

“If given a chance, I’d like to host a talk show or a lifestyle programme.”
