FINTECH AWARDS OPEN FOR NOMINATIONS
Event to recognise achievements of local tech entrepreneurs
TECH entrepreneurs or startup owners can start nominating their companies for the Malaysia Financial Technology (fintech) Awards 2018.
Organised by Persatuan Usahawan Dinamik and endorsed by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), it aims to recognise the achievements of local fintech players.
MCMC chairman Tan Sri Dr Halim Shafie launched the opening of the nominations here yesterday.
Persatuan Usahawan Dinamik chairman Datuk Rosthman Ibrahim said the awards ceremony, to be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on March 8, would give entrepreneurs the opportunity to expand their network and business.
“I hope this event will encourage business owners to strive and stay competitive to reap the benefits and broaden their market,” Rosthman said at the pre-launch of the award ceremony here.
“The ceremony will have two segments — a forum to be held during the day for industry players to discuss the market trends and the awards gala at night.
“Potential candidates can nominate themselves at the official website through an application called Zygy.
“It is a platform that gathers data and information from online sources, such as social media and messaging applications to determine the candidates.”
Rosthman said there would be 13 categories for the nomination, which includes fintech personality of the year, fintech startup of the year and fintech company of the year.
Nominations can be made via malaysiafintechawards.com.
Present at the launch were New Straits Times Press Bhd chief commercial officer Alfian Abu Talib, Optical Communication Engineering chief executive officer Datuk Robin Wong Hee Jun, MCMC commission member Datuk Md Afendi Hamdan, Utusan Group deputy group editorin-chief Datuk Othman Mohamad and PwC executive director Mark Pui.
The New Straits Times and Berita Harian are the official media partners.
