Pastor accused of molesting teen

-

KUALA LUMPUR: The mother of a 17-year-old girl, who was molested by a pastor in Petaling Jaya, regretted her decision to allow her child to be placed under the man’s care.

The mother, a Chinese citizen, was married to a Malaysian man, but when her husband died, she returned to China and entrusted her child in the care of the pastor, 49, in 2009.

She said she had no choice but to do so, as she wanted her child to attend school here.

Community Policing Malaysia founder Kuan Chee Heng said the woman was depressed when she learnt of what had happened.

“The pastor had surrendered himself yesterday.

“He knelt down in front of the victim’s mother and asked for her forgiveness, but the mother did not forgive him as she was emotional and depressed.

“She blamed herself for letting her child stay at a place where she thought had hope, but instead the daughter had been molested for eight years.”

It is reported that the pastor is being investigated over allegations that he had molested and forced his adopted daughter to perform oral sex on him for about eight years.

The incidents were believed to have taken place in a house in Petaling Jaya, a few months after she began living with the pastor on Nov 15, 2009.

The pastor was also said to had also forced the girl to sleep naked with him at night.

He had threatened to hurt the victim if she told other people of what he was doing.

On Tuesday, the victim finally worked up the courage to run away. She told her mother what had happened and lodged a report at the district police headquarters.

The case is being investigated under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.

The offence carries a maximum jail sentence of up to 20 years and whipping, if convicted.

Kuan advised parents and operators of schools and nurseries to be more alert when it comes to dealing with children.

“Parents, when you leave your children in the hands of religious bodies, daycare or other places, constantly check on them, especially daughters, to see whether there are any sign of abuse, either sexually or physically.
