HOMEDEC EXPO BEGINS
Event ties up with RiX, country’s first showcase of interior design for designers
MALAYSIA’S premier home design and furnishings exhibition — The Home Design and Interior Exhibition (Homedec) — opened its doors to the public, here, yesterday.
The four-day event, already in its 15th year, ties up with the inaugural Reka Interior Exhibition (RiX), which is a part of the first Reka Design Week (RDW) 2017.
RiX is Malaysia’s first showcase of interior design, products and objects uniquely tailored for interior designers by interior designers.
Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers (MIID) vice-president Ooi Boon Seong and MIID council member Lai Siew Hong are the appointed joint curators of RiX.
Present at the event were MIID president Ar. Chris Yap and C.I.S Network Sdn Bhd president Datuk Vincent Lim.
Vincent said Homedec had always been highly regarded for its ability to inspire homeowners.
The event is jointly organised by C.I.S Network Sdn Bhd, a leading, award-winning Malaysian trade and lifestyle exhibition organiser, and MIID REKA Sdn Bhd (MRSB), a subsidary of MIID.
This year, it introduces an exciting new special feature — Hometech — which showcases an intriguing glimpse of the technology-driven products from homes of the future.
Among the products featured are keyless locks; a remote that controls various electronic items in a home; and apps for mobile phones to control timers and switches.
The highlights of the event include industry-level RiX Talks, Meet-the-Icons session, RiX Talks: Biz by product experts, an ID Students’ Saturday Competition and the RiX Party.
Homedec Part 1 and Part 2 expect to see more than 120,000 visitors at the 1,600 booths that feature the latest in home-related products, interior design ideas and solutions from more than 500 exhibitors.
