‘I DID LODGE REPORTS AGAINST RAJA PETRA’
Move is over allegation in blog, says attorney-general

ATTORNEY-GENERAL Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali has confirmed lodging police reports against blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin over an online article published recently.
He said the reports were filed at police stations here and in Putrajaya on Sunday.
“Confirmed, I did lodge the police reports,” he said in a brief WhatsApp message.
Apandi said the offence should come under Section 499 of the Penal Code for criminal defamation.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Abdul Aziz Salleh confirmed receiving the report.
He said apart from Section 499, the investigation was also being conducted under Section 233 (1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

“In my investigations, only the nicknames of the suspects were given.

Azirul, who was the investigating officer handling the case, also testified that police had issued of an English daily reported Apandi as rubbishing the allegation in the blog and threatening to sue Raja Petra.
Apandi had said he would also seek advice from lawyers in the United Kingdom, where Raja Petra is currently based.

Earlier, Azirul testified that Siti Aisyah and Doan had identified the four men mentioned in the charge sheet only as Mr Chang, James, Mr Y and Hanamori@ Grandpa/Uncle.
The witness told the court that a man named Ri Jong-chol was arrested in the case, but was later freed as there was no evidence to prosecute him.
