Najib said various initiative­s were proposed under the 2018 Budget to help the rakyat generate more income which includes a RM120 million allocation to provide easy loans to 1,000 1Malaysia Food Truck and 1Malaysia Mobile Food Kiosk entreprene­urs.

He said a sum of RM100 million would also be allocated to expand eRezeki, eUsahawan and eLadang Programmes under the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporatio­n (MDEC), while another RM60 million will be provided to implement the 1AZAM programme, including RM10 million for Sabah and RM10 million for Sarawak.

Najib said another RM25 million would be allocated for ThreeWheel Motorcycle Programme under Fama, GiatMara mobilepren­eur and MyAGROSIS programmes.

He said in line with the Industrial Revolution 4.0, all registered taxi drivers who wish to shift to a ehailing applicatio­n, would be provided a grant amounting to RM5,000 for the purchase of a new car.

Najib said the government will allocate RM20 million to develop the Agrobazaar Malaysia to provide market space and agrofood sales centre at a lower price, beginning in Putrajaya.

He said the Agricultur­e and Agro-Based Industry Ministry would implement programmes through Fama and LKIM with an allocation of RM50 million to enable consumers to purchase food products such as fish, vegetables, chickens and eggs at affordable prices.

The government will also allocate RM3.9 billion for goods and transport subsidies including cooking gas, flour, cooking oil, electricit­y and toll.

Najib said Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia (KR1M) would be restructur­ed as KR1M 2.0 and with 3,000 outlets to be transforme­d within three years.

Meanwhile, Teraju, which is the government’s Bumiputera Agenda Steering Unit, said the RM555 million allocation for Bumiputera Entreprene­urship Enhancemen­t The government will transform 3,000 Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia (KR1M) shops into KR1M 2.0 outlets within three years. Programmes signalled and reaffirmed the national commitment to promote greater success among the Bumiputera and at the same time uplift the social and economic fabric of the country.

This is further evidenced with a RM61.6 billion boost to enhance excellence in Education Developmen­t, Training, Skills and Talent and the RM2.4 billion allocation for Universiti Teknologi Mara to increase its intake to 165,000 students with a target of 250,000 students by 2020.
