The 29-year-old man was caught on camera assaulting three Rela members near a temple.

SELANGOR police are calling on a Datuk Seri, who was recorded on closed-circuit television camera (CCTV) beating up three People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) members in Ampang to turn himself in.

“Surrender now or we will hunt you down,” said state Criminal Investigation Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Fadzil Ahmat.

The incident occurred near the Kau Ong Yah Temple at 6.30am on Friday.

It is being investigated under Sections 324 and 186 of the Penal Code for causing hurt and obstructing public servants from discharging their duties.

Fadzil said the suspect was a 29-year-old man with a Datuk Seri title. The Rela members, aged between 19 and 27, had asked the suspect to move his Toyota Vellfire as it was obstructing traffic. This enraged the man and he assaulted them.

Malaysia Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF) has condemned the actions of the suspect. MCPF senior vice-chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye said his aggressive actions were “improper, unacceptable and should not have occurred”.

“He should always act with decorum, and respect the trust and goodwill given to him by the ruler who bestowed the award on him,” he said.
