‘Let people judge 2018 Budget’s effectiveness’

-

JELEBU: The government’s 2018 Budget is sincere and drawn up for the long-term welfare of the people and, in the end, it is they who will judge its effectiveness.

Umno information chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa said the opposition could accuse Barisan Nasional of all sorts of things but in the end, it was the people who would see the truth.

“The opposition can say whatever they want but in reality, Pakatan Harapan’s alternative budget is unrealistic and irresponsible.

“The opposition can cook up anything in their budget, but they can’t implement it,” Annuar said at a get-together with some 800 BN and Umno delegates here yesterday.

Annuar said Pakatan Harapan could not announce its income and what it had spent the money on.

“It’s just done on paper and that is not good enough.”

Annuar said the BN government should be unfazed by the opposition’s accusation that BN copied the opposition’s previous budget.

“Copy or not, that is not an issue, let the people judge.”

Annuar said former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had continued to smear Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s name not because of the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) issue but because he was frustrated that his son, Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, lost in the Umno elections.

“1MDB is just a vehicle for (Dr) Mahathir to ride on, to besmirch Najib when, in fact, his real motive is power.

“I personally asked (Dr) Mahathir why he fired (then deputy prime minister Datuk Seri) Anwar (Ibrahim) and he answered Anwar was a homosexual and not fit to become prime minister.

“As a minister at the time, I defended (Dr) Mahathir’s decision as he was my boss, and now, I am doing exactly the same with Najib as he is my boss.” By Abnor Hamizam Abd Manap
