Just fabulo

With her first album launched and an acting career t be underestimated.

She even made an impression on the small screen as Putri in the popular TV series

This year alone, the talented 34-year-old charmed fans with roles in two big hit productions: on TV and the successful action-packed blockbuster

in cinemas.

Acting aside, Fazura also started honing her singing career two years ago and made her debut with the empowering single

— but that’s old news for fans of this fabulous lady. Fast forward to today and Fazura’s singing career has blossomed to the point where she earned a spot as a recording artiste under Universal Music Malaysia.

With this milestone achievement, her first full-fledged album is born and ready to be shared with all.

JSIMPLY CALLED FAZURA

The word “excited” is certainly an understatement for Fazura on how she feels at the moment, now that her debut album is ready.

“The album is called because the songs carry various messages that are dear to my heart.

“Some are based on my personal experiences while others will certainly resonate with those who have had similar experiences.

“Whether you’re in love, or have experienced a heartbreak, fans will relate to them,” she said enthusiastically.

With nine tracks for listeners to enjoy, Fazura said that the new release draws its musical identity from the pop genre.

Looking at the list of composers and music producers Fazura had collaborated with, such as Anas Amdan, Irfan Aulia of Indonesian band Samsons and Ahmad ‘Kemat’ Khair, the album certainly sounds very promising.

UNDENIABLY NERVOUS

Having the opportunity to work with pretty notable names in the music scene for her first effort, the confident artiste confessed that she got the jitters when stepping into the studio for the various recording sessions.

“Of course I was nervous. These people are super talented in what they do and there was little old me, still very green in the music industry. “I was prepared for their honest opinions and was quite scared about being told off if I didn’t meet their expectations,” said the wide-eyed artiste with immaculate hair.

She paused for a bit before adding: “But they were very patient in guiding me throughout the whole process, for which I’m really thankful.”

“There were times where I had doubted myself and they were very kind and understanding.Theymotivatedmeandbelievedthat I could do it. I really appreciated that,” she said.

FAVOURITE SONG

Among the tunes that she had recorded earlier this year, there was one that stood out.

“I like the song because it challenged me vocally. I had to push myself to reach the high notes. It was hard at first but when it was finally completed, I felt good about it. Furthermore, the melody of the song jived with the lyrics. The song will make anyone tear up.”

“And that includes my male friends too!” she said with a laugh, explaining that the song is about forbidden love.

“It’s about two people who love each other so much but can’t be together due to circumstances.”

“I’m sure fans will fall in love with it as much as I did,” she said.

So what sort of satisfaction does she get from singing compared to acting?

“Well, when I’m acting, I get the satisfaction of telling a story by playing another character.”

“When I sing, it comes from my heart. I can be myself but at the same time I sing about stories that other people can relate to as well.”

“At the end of the day, my number one passion is still acting. Acting is my first love,” she said.

ZONE OUT FOCUS

With Fazura having to juggle between acting, her businesses and brand endorsements, how does she even make time to record an album (and within five months too)?

“Ohmygoodness,IdonotknowhowIpowered through such a hectic schedule.”

“I would head to the recording studio at night, in between shooting and travelling overseas. It was crazy!”

“There were times when I was not physically fit to record but I told myself I had to do it no matter what. Time is precious. Every second counts,” she said, her hands gesturing wildly.

Fortunately, she had her “well-organised” trait to thank. “Anyone who knows me knows that I am a bit OCD (an acronym for obsessive compulsive disorder). That’s not a very good trait to have, I know, but being obsessively organised helps me to stay on top of my game.”

“When I get to the studio, I just focus on my singing. I’ve become a professional at zoning out when I need to focus on something.”

PROVING HATERS WRONG

For Fazura, the album is a gift for her fans who have supported her throughout her journey in music.
