-

KUALA LUMPUR: Wanita MCA passed eight resolutions at its 42nd annual general meeting here yesterday, covering transformation, politics, economy, education, social security, women and welfare.

It renewed its support for the government’s Transformasi Nasional 2050 plan and to achieve the vision of turning Malaysia into a high-income nation.

“We support the Belt and Road initiative to strengthen economic and bilateral ties between Malaysia and China.

“We support the government’s move to open up e-commerce through social media, to help people take advantage of limitless business opportunities,” said Wanita MCA chief Datuk Heng Seai Kie in her winding-up speech.

On education, Wanita M C A s u ggested the government set up another long-term loan scheme to fulfil the needs of higher education while waiting for National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) borrowers to repay their loans.

“We support the government’s approach in continuing to build Chinese primary schools in areas that are highly populated by the community, and to relocate under-enrolled ones.

“The government needs to reaffirm the contributions of all races in history textbooks, to enable future generations to know about the country’s formation, and to strengthen national unity.

“As for senior citizens, we hope the government will study the trend of Malaysians becoming an ageing population and its effects on the nation.

“We look forward to seeing the government formulate a proactive strategy, such as the Private Aged Healthcare Facilities and Services Bill, to ensure that senior citizens get medical care.”

In gearing up for the general election, Heng reminded members about the importance of the Jalinan Rakyat Plus programme and its function to reach out to fence-sitters.
