SINGER Anuar Zain is excited to be part of the lineup at Konsert Emoji and for good reason. “This concert is unlike any other. It’s such an honour to be invited. I’ll be in the company of some of the biggest names in the local entertainment scene,” he says.

To be held at Dewan Agung Tuanku Canselor in Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Shah Alam on Dec 16 and 17, the two-night concert is part of the activities lined up for a week-long celebration of the 20th anniversary of UiTM’s Faculty of Film, Theatre and Animation (FiTA).

For the concert, Anuar will be joined by other award-winning singers and bands such as Faizal Tahir, Akim & The Majistret, KRU and Usop (of

fame).

“I’ll be singing three numbers on each night and needless to say, I’ll give my best. While the venue is a higher learning institution, it doesn’t mean the concert will be any less exciting,” adds Anuar, who is obviously impressed that the anniversary celebration project will be handled by students supervised by their lecturers.

According to FiTA’s dean, Datuk Prof Dr A. Razak Mohaideen, the faculty has expanded over the years and produced thousands of graduates, many of whom are in the entertainment industry.

“This concert celebrates the achievements of the students and alumni who have added colour to the country’s entertainment industry,” says Razak who has been helming the faculty since 2011.

He adds: “By putting up this concert, opportunities are created for our students, especially those taking Creative Industry Management, to get hands-on experience especially since it is a large-scale event.”

The concert’s director Aminah Rhapor, who is also head of FiTA’s Centre of Crea- Yusry of KRU

tive Industry Management Programme, says the concert is named Konsert Emoji to symbolise all of the emotions experienced by students and academic staff throughout the two decades.

“We’re extremely proud to present some of the biggest names in the local entertainment scene at this anniversary concert. We hope they will be able to command a huge turnout. Come and celebrate with us on those two nights,” she adds.

Meanwhile, acclaimed theatre director Norzizi Zulkifli says Konsert Emoji is just one of the activities lined up for the week-long celebration called Minggu KaryaONE Bersama Alumni 2017.

“Minggu KaryaOne is FiTA’s annual event during which the faculty will come up with activities related to arts and education.

“But of course, since we’re celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, it’ll be a special celebration, what with the concert and all. We are also taking this opportunity to celebrate the faculty’s alumni,” she adds.

Other programmes scheduled are arts discussions, photography exhibition, talks, screening of the 2015 Indonesian animation movie

(directed by Aryanto Yuniawan) and promotion of Razak’s upcoming film

Razak says the concert celebrates achievements of students and alumni. Come and celebrate with us, urges Aminah

“FiTA KaryaOne Awards night will be the muchawaited event by our students, during which the best of their works during the course will receive due recognition. Admission is free as we want members of the public to come and join us that evening.

“We will also give out the FiTA Icon Awards as our token of appreciation to our alumni who have made a name for themselves in the local entertainment industry,” adds Norzizi.
