Man nabbed for abetting dad’s suicide

BENTONG: A businessma­n, 35, was arrested two days ago for allegedly abetting the suicide of his father, 65, at a hotel in Genting Highlands last week.

Police nabbed the suspect, who had stayed at the same hotel room as his father, who was later found dead, lying down but with rope marks around his neck, at 10.20am on Nov 9.

State Criminal Investigat­ion Department chief Senior Assistant Commission­er Othman Nanyan said the suspect has been remanded until tomorrow to facilitate investigat­ion.

He said investigat­ion found that the suspect, who has a history of mental illness and is taking (psychiatri­c) medication­s, had confessed to helping the victim to commit suicide.
