Man nabbed for abet­ting dad’s sui­cide

BENTONG: A busi­ness­man, 35, was ar­rested two days ago for al­legedly abet­ting the sui­cide of his fa­ther, 65, at a ho­tel in Gent­ing High­lands last week.

Po­lice nabbed the sus­pect, who had stayed at the same ho­tel room as his fa­ther, who was later found dead, ly­ing down but with rope marks around his neck, at 10.20am on Nov 9.

State Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tion Depart­ment chief Se­nior As­sis­tant Com­mis­sioner Oth­man Nanyan said the sus­pect has been re­manded un­til to­mor­row to fa­cil­i­tate in­ves­ti­ga­tion.

He said in­ves­ti­ga­tion found that the sus­pect, who has a his­tory of men­tal ill­ness and is tak­ing (psy­chi­atric) med­i­ca­tions, had con­fessed to help­ing the vic­tim to com­mit sui­cide.
